An Award Winning House – Honey and Walnut

We are thrilled to share the news that one of our projects, Honey and Walnut, has been recognised with the prestigious RIBA West Midlands Award 2022. This accolade celebrates architectural excellence and innovative design, and we are proud to have contributed to this transformative project as the construction partner.

A Vision Realised

Honey and Walnut is a testament to the power of thoughtful collaboration between client, architect, and builder. Designed by the talented team at Intervention Architecture Ltd, this home exemplifies modern architectural innovation. The focus was not on expanding the footprint unnecessarily but on unlocking the potential of the existing structure. By cleverly reconfiguring the interior and aligning the roof form, the house now exudes both elegance and functionality.

Craftsmanship and Quality

Our role in bringing this vision to life focused on meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. From the full-width rear extension to the intricate brick façade detailing, every element of the build was carefully executed to meet the strict conservation requirements and uphold the high standards expected of a luxury home.

Internally, the transformation was remarkable. The removal of old ceilings revealed a soaring roofline that added light and spaciousness, while bespoke joinery throughout the home created a cohesive design language. Highlights include:

• Walnut joinery: Stunning dark wood accents in the study, kitchen, and living spaces.
• Birch mezzanine: A charming, elevated space for the children’s bedroom.
• Sliding glass doors: Seamlessly connecting the living areas to the garden and allowing natural light to flow through the home.

Sustainable Features

We also embraced sustainability in this project, ensuring the home not only looked extraordinary but also functioned efficiently. The thermal envelope was upgraded to exceed building regulations, and cross-ventilation was optimised through smart window positioning, delivering an energy-efficient and comfortable living environment.
